A unanimous points decision has seen Adam Nolan breeze through his first-round bout at the European Games in Baku.

The Wexford welterweight easily dispatched Albanian Alban Beqiri in their last-32 encounter, awarded every round by every judge, taking the victory 30-27 30-27 30-27.

Nolan qualifies for the TV stages, and fights again in the round-of-16 on Saturday against 21-year-old Italian Dario Moriello.

Later tonight, Michael O’Reilly of Portlaoise Boxing Club is in middleweight action against Sanjin Pol Vrgoc of Croatia, with an expected start time of around 4:15pm Irish time.

Derek Burnett has risen to tenth on the second day of Trap Qualification in shooting, having been placed twelfth at the end of the opening day.
