NBA star Kobe Bryant set for nine months out

Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant is set for nine months out after undergoing surgery on a shoulder injury.
Bryant, who is the third-highest points scorer in NBA history, sustained the injury in the 96-80 defeat to the New Orleans Pelicans on January 21.
A statement on the Lakers' official website read: "Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant, who injured his right shoulder in last Wednesday night's game against the Pelicans in New Orleans, underwent a successful surgery this morning to repair a torn rotator cuff.
"The approximately two-hour procedure was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache and Dr. Steve Lombardo at the Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles.
"Bryant, who is expected to make a full recovery, will be out for approximately nine months."
The 36-year-old, a five-time NBA champion and two-time Olympic champion, is expected to be back in action for the start of next season.
"I expect Kobe to make a full recovery and if all goes as expected, he should be ready for the start of the season," said ElAttrache.
