Conlan aiming to book a place in Olympic final
Michael Conlan is aiming to book a place in the Olympic flyweight boxing final this evening.
The 20-year-old from Belfast takes to the ring in London's ExCel Arena at 8.45 to face a Cuban opponent.
Earlier today fellow Belfast man Paddy Barnes narrowly missed out on a place in the light-flyweight decider - but the 25 year old has won a second Olympic bronze medal.
John Joe Nevin from Mullingar in Westmeath is through to tomorrow night's final - guaranteeing the 23-year-old at least a silver medal.
Several thousand people packed into the town's Market Square to watch him progress to the last two.
