Haye confirms talks for Klitschko bout
Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye has confirmed he could fight Vitali Klitschko in March.
The Londoner officially retired in October but was known to be ready to fight again if the opportunity arose for him to avenge his July defeat by Wladimir Klitschko or take on his elder brother.
Haye confirmed one of the worst-kept secrets in sport, telling the BBC's 'Hardtalk' programme: "I haven't seen a contract but there's definitely talks going on.
"I said before I retired I would love that fight and there's a date in March that's already been talked about."
The Ukrainian brothers always claimed negotiations had been taking place over a meeting with 40-year-old Vitali, the WBC champion, following Haye's unification loss to IBF/WBO champion Wladimir in Hamburg earlier this year.
Haye had already stated he had merely "retired from fighting anyone without the Klitschko surname" as he looks to redeem himself following a poor showing against Wladimir in the summer.
The 31-year-old told Hardtalk: "I said I'd want to fight Vitali, the big brother of Wladimir, who beat me in my last fight. They're the only guys I'd consider coming out of retirement for."
A date in early March has long been talked about, with the proposed fight against Vitali Klitschko likely to be staged in Dusseldorf in Germany.
"Whether it happens or not I don't know," Haye said.
"What I will do is make sure I am in good shape so if the fight for whatever reason does happen, if they give me what I believe I deserve and if the date for the TV networks all comes together, then it would be something I would seriously consider."
