A nine-year-old boy from Waterford has become the youngest ever Irish transplant athlete to win a gold medal at the World Transplant Games in Sweden.

A nine-year-old boy from Waterford has become the youngest ever Irish transplant athlete to win a gold medal at the World Transplant Games in Sweden.

Oisin O'Gorman from Lismore, whose father Kieran donated a kidney to him two years ago, came first in the 50 metre race.

Two other Irish athletes, Tony Gartland from Carlow and Sinead McGowan from Galway, scooped bronze medals in the mini marathon and the 3-kilometre race.
