Promoter: No snap decision on Dunne future

Bernard Dunne was taken to Beaumont hospital last night following the loss of his WBA World Super Bantamweight title to Thailand's Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym, but was released with a clean bill of health shortly after.

ā€œThankfully Bernard is fine,ā€ said fight promoter Brian Peters today, adding that the only thing wounded was the boxer's pride following the third-round defeat at The O2 in Dublin.

Peters expressed confidence that the Dublin boxer would bounce back from the defeat.

ā€œAfter the Kiko Martinez defeat there wasn’t too many predicting that Bernard would go on to win a World title but he did just that and he can come back from this setback as well," the promoter said.

Peters said that no snap decision will be made regarding Dunne’s future.

ā€œObviously we’re all very disappointed right now but once the dust settles we’ll look at our options and see what direction we go from here.

"There are no excuses, Bernard was beaten by a great, great fighter last night and I’m sure that Poonsawat will enjoy a long and successful reign and we wish him all the very best for the future.ā€
