Thai boxer confirmed for Dunne title defence

WBA Super-Bantamweight Champion Bernard Dunne will defend his world title for the first time against Thailand's Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym, it was announced this afternoon.

The match has been scheduled for Dublin's O2 venue on Saturday September 26.

Poonsawat comes into the fight with impressive record of 38 wins from 39 professional fights, and his style has been compared to that of Manny Pacquiao.

ā€œHe’s got fantastic ability, is a great puncher and he's been waiting for 18 months for somebody to box him, so I'm willing to give him a chance - let's see what he can do,ā€ Dunne said.

It's been almost six months the Dublin boxer claimed his title with a famous win over Ricardo Cordoba at the same venue, and he’s admitted he canot wait to get back in the ring.

ā€œI've been training now I think for three months or so, and it's been a tough training camp,ā€ he said.

ā€œIt's been hard, especially with not having a face to focus on, but now it's 100% guaranteed it's Poonsawat and now I have something to focus on.ā€
