Button hits front in Turkey

A mistake from Sebastian Vettel handed first place to Jenson Button on the opening lap of the Turkish Grand Prix.

Starting from pole for the third time in his career, with his two wins to date coming from such a position, Vettel made a fine start once the red lights disappeared to signal the beginning of the 58-lap race.

But the 21-year-old in his Red Bull caught the painted kerb coming out of turn nine which led to him running wide into 10, and so giving Button the gap to pass.

As for Button’s Brawn GP team-mate Rubens Barrichello, the 37-year-old suffered a woeful start as his car was slow off the line, with the Brazilian down in 13th by the end of lap one.

Toyota’s Jarno Trulli made the initial jump on Barrichello to claim third, but Red Bull’s Mark Webber passed the Italian on an eventful opening lap to sit behind team-mate Vettel.
