Larsen to sponsor Circuit of Ireland Rally
One of the most famous events in Irish motorsport, the Circuit of Ireland Rally, has a new sponsor.
The event will be known as the Larsen Circuit of Ireland Rally after the Belfast-based group stepped in as title sponsors.
The two-day event takes place on April 11/12 next and will be based at the Park Inn, Dundalk.
Commenting, clerk of the course and chairman of the Ulster Automobile Club, Nigel Hughes said: "This year's event will be a two-day rally, covering a total of some 130 stage miles. With an entry fee of £700 (€782) equating to just £5.40 (€6) per stage mile, it provides excellent value for money for all competitors."
The stages on Saturday, April 11 will be in south Down with servicing in Banbridge. Easter Sunday's action will take place in south Armagh with a service halt in Newry.
The ceremonial start will be in Banbridge town centre.
"Rallying can be a massive attraction that helps boost the economy in the area and it's fantastic that the councils recognise this. Over the years, we've received support from many councils, including Banbridge, Newry, Down, Louth, as well as Bord Fáilte. We're indebted to all of them." added Mr Hughes.
The event is a counting round of the Irish Tarmac Championship, the Northern Ireland Rally Championship and the MSA Asphalt Championship.
In addition, it also incorporates the Citroen C2R2 Irish Cup, the Mitsubishi Ralliart Evolution Challenge Ireland and the Ford Fiesta Sporting Trophy Ireland series.
