Phil Taylor whitewashed Colin Osborne with a sensational performance to storm into the last eight of the Sky Poker World Grand Prix in Dublin last night.

Taylor followed up his first round win over Ronnie Baxter with a devastating display against Osborne, averaging 100.2 to set up a quarter-final meeting with Andy Hamilton.

“Colin’s a better player than that and I felt for him, but you have to be professional and get the job done,” said Taylor.

“You want to get the job done as quickly as possible and though it’s not nice to beat a fellow pro 3-0, 3-0, 3-0 but I’m pleased to win.”

Hamilton had to come from behind to beat Robert Thornton 3-2 after losing the first two sets.

John Part defeated Jacko Barry with ease, with the Dubliner going down 3-0 in front of his home fans, while Terry Jenkins defeated Mark Walsh by the same score.

Terry Jenkins, the runner-up in the past two years, produced arguably his best display of the year to defeat Mark Walsh 3-0, dropping just one leg in reaching the quarters.

Today’s quarter-finals also feature world number two Raymond van Barneveld against Colin Lloyd and Mervyn King against veteran Dennis Priestley.
