Mosley receives welcome support
Under-fire FIA president Max Mosley will attend his first official function next week since allegations relating to his private life surfaced in a Sunday newspaper.
Mosley has accepted an invitation from the crown prince of Jordan, HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein, to attend the Jordan Rally.
The event marks the return of the World Rally Championship to the Arab world for the first time in 32 years.
Mosley has previously been a staunch supporter of Jordanâs bid to become part of the WRC.
Prince Al Hussein, chairman of Jordan Motorsport, said: âMax has been a strong friend and ally to Jordan.
âHe has supported us since we announced our bid three years ago, so we are delighted he will be sharing this historic occasion with us.â
With the Jordan Rally staged from April 24-27, it means Mosley will not be present in Barcelona for the weekendâs Spanish Grand Prix.
That is despite the fact the FIA are due to unveil their âRacing Against Racismâ campaign at the Circuit de Catalunya.
It follows a racist incident directed towards Lewis Hamilton at a test session earlier this year that led to fierce criticism from the FIA.
Motorsportâs world governing body acted swiftly, and are due to embark upon a pro-active campaign from next week, starting in Spain.
Despite support from Jordan, Mosley has faced another call to resign, on this occasion from Motorsport South Africa.
The 68-year-old faces a vote of confidence at an extraordinary hearing of the FIAâs General Assembly in Paris on June 3.
Mosleyâs future, in the wake of stories published in the 'News of the World', will be decided by a secret ballot.
