Massa takes Turkish title
Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen kept their Formula One title hopes alive with a Ferrari one-two at the Turkish Grand Prix as a puncture damaged Lewis Hamilton’s own championship chances.
Hamilton was on course for a comfortable third place which would have seen him increase his lead over McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso.
But then with 15 of the 58 laps remaining at the Istanbul Park circuit, and in blistering temperatures hitting the mid-30s, the 22-year-old Briton’s right front tyre shredded.
Hamilton managed to recover and had to settle for fifth, but his advantage over Alonso – who grabbed a place on the podium – is now just five points with five grands prix remaining.
