Alonso fronts up in Monaco

Fernando Alonso led a McLaren one-two at the start of the Monaco Grand Prix.

The reigning double world champion and team-mate Lewis Hamilton both made clean starts off the grid at the Monte Carlo street circuit.

There were no contentious issues between the duo, as both had promised after qualifying at the Principality yesterday.

The best of the early movers was Nick Heidfeld in his BMW Sauber as he moved up from seventh to fifth at the end of the first of 78 laps.
