A speeding case against boxer Amir Khan is due back in court today.

Khan, aged 20, is accused of driving at 140mph in his BMW M6 convertible on the M62 motorway near Rochdale, last New Year’s Eve.

He was due to appear before Rochdale Magistrates’ Court last month, but the case was adjourned until today.

Khan has pleaded not guilty to the court via a letter from his solicitor.

Is is not thought he will attend today’s hearing.

Khan, of Lostock, near Bolton, is also charged with failing to produce a driving licence and failing to produce insurance.

The young boxer shot to fame when he won a silver medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

He has since turned professional and remains unbeaten in the paid ranks with a Commonwealth lightweight title challenge against Willie Limond scheduled for July.
