Britton for set for World Cross Country Championships in Kenya
Athletics Ireland announces Fionnuala Britton as sole competitor to travel to the World Cross Country Championships in Kenya.
Fionnuala will be accompanied by experienced team manager Ann Keenan Buckley.
On the announcement, team manager Ann Keenan Buckley said: “Fionnuala is in great shape and I am really looking forward to see how she is going to compete in Kenya. I am very positive about Fionnuala, as everything has gone according to plan in her build up to the Championships and full credit to her and her coach Pat Diskin as she is in the best shape she could be in at the moment and clearly proved that at the weekend.”
The World Championships in Kenya presents a number of serious challenges and none of the potential male competitors expressed an interest in travelling when contacted earlier in the year. Fionnuala Britton was the only one of the potential competitors who expressed a desire to travel earlier in the year.
