Anderson rolls back years

Darts legend Bob Anderson rolled back the years to send world number one Colin Lloyd crashing out of the Skybet World Grand Prix in Dublin tonight.

The 58-year-old ‘Limestone Cowboy’ recovered well after losing the opening set to wrap up a 2-1 first-round victory at the Citywest Hotel.

Lloyd, champion in 2004 and runner-up to Phil Taylor 12 months ago, raced through the first set with an impressive three-dart average of 103.

But Anderson was soon back on level terms courtesy of a bull finish, setting up a fascinating final set.

The first two legs were shared before Anderson nailed double 10 and a brilliant 146 checkout to progress.

“It was an extremely hard game,” said Anderson, who will face local favourite Anto McCracken in the second round on Wednesday night.

“I thought we both played well – my finishing was probably a little bit sharper.”
