Belfast date set for Khan
Amir Khan will take on former European lightweight title challenger Laszlo Komjathi in Belfast on May 20.
The Olympic silver medallist, now unbeaten in six fights since turning professional, will fight the 30-year-old Hungarian at the King’s Hall on the undercard of Scott Harrison’s WBO featherweight title defence against Joan Guzman.
Khan, 19, has already knocked out Vitali Martynov and Jackson Williams in his first two fights of the year.
Komjathi, who has previously held the Hungarian lightweight belt, last fought in January when he extended former world amateur champion Willy Blain over eight rounds.
Khan said: “I can’t wait to get into Belfast, there’s a great buzz in the city about the whole show and with me making my debut there so I’m looking forward to getting in there with Komjathi and giving the fans a good and exciting performance.
“Komjathi is a test for me and it’s at the right stage of my career, he’s had a lot more experience at championship level than the other boxers I’ve fought.
“I’ve watched some videos of him and he’s a strong, powerful, boxer with an attacking style so I know that I won’t have to go looking for him, I’ll be looking to bring him onto my punches and know that I’ve got the power to knock him out.”
