US Grand Prix's future in limbo

The future of the United States Grand Prix will not be resolved until after this year’s race.

Formula One’s current deal with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway expires after this season’s race, which is held on July 2.

Indianapolis invested millions to bring Formula One back to the United States in 2000 – but organisers were furious last year when 14 cars pulled out over tyre safety fears.

Formula One chief Bernie Ecclestone has already looked at holding a street race in Las Vegas, but Indianapolis will keep him waiting on whether they want to retain the event

“We had conversations after last year’s event and then mutually decided to address the future after we see how this year’s race goes,” Indianapolis spokesman Fred Nation told the Indianapolis Star.
