Ralf Schumacher has been forced to withdraw from this weekend’s United States Grand Prix, to be replaced by Ricardo Zonta at Toyota.

The German suffered a heavy accident in practice yesterday at the same spot where he broke bones in his back last year, and was taken to hospital complaining of an eye problem.

Toyota initially gave the green light for him to continue racing this weekend but doctors today advised him to pull out. His place at Toyota will be taken by third driver Zonta.
