Jones still eyeing Euro raid

The agent of Marion Jones insists he is not aware of plans to exclude the former triple Olympic champion from European meetings because of links to the Bay Area Laboratory Co-operative (BALCO).

It had been reported that Jones and her boyfriend Tim Montgomery, the world 100 metres record holder, would not appear in Europe after the Euro-Meetings Group, which organises more than 45 meets, agreed to bar the pair.

However, Jones’ agent Charles Wells disputed this, adding he had even been in negotiations about them competing in Europe this season.

He said: “It’s news to me. I know nothing about that.

“All I know is that I have been talking to promoters in Europe all week about putting both of them in meets.”

There has been a strong hint those discussions could include the Golden League meetings in Rome in July and Berlin in September.
