Irish boxer set to face Tyson

Irishman Kevin McBride is set to be confirmed as Mike Tyson’s latest comeback opponent later today.

Tyson has reportedly agreed a deal to face the Clones-born heavyweight at Washington’s MCI Center on June 11.

The former two-time world champion has not fought since being knocked out in the fourth round by Danny Williams in Louisville last July.

McBride had been lined up to face Tyson last year before Williams agreed to take less money for the fight.

The 6ft 6ins 31-year-old, who has campaigned mostly in the United States, boasts a 32-4-1 professional record, winning his last seven fights inside the distance.

But he has been found out in previous forays towards the top level, being stopped by both Axel Schulz and DaVarryl Williamson.
