Olympic bid rivarly increases

The rivalry between the five cities bidding for the 2012 Olympics became overtly confrontational today with Madrid making an official protest at Paris’ use of French embassies to promote their candidature file.

The controversy surrounds a speech by Norwegian actress Wenche Fosse in support of Paris at the French embassy in Oslo last week where she reportedly made several denigrating remarks about rival cities including London and Madrid.
