Dakar rally star Sainct dies in crash
Dakar Rally great Richard Sainct has been killed in a crash in Egypt.
The Frenchman, who won the motorcycle section of the long-distance rally three times, crashed heavily on the fourth stage of the Pharaohs Rally today.
The 34-year-old was killed in the impact and his KTM team withdrew as a mark of respect.
A team statement read: “KTM regrets to announce the death of three-time Paris-Dakar winner Richard Sainct. Our thoughts are with Richard’s family.”
