Ironmen flock to Kerry for Lost Sheep Triathlon

Some of the world's great ironmen and women will travel to Kenmare this weekend for the last big race of the Irish triathlon season.

The Lost Sheep Half Ironman Triathlon in Kenmare will see 200 competitors complete a 1900m swim, 90km cycle and a 21k run.

This is the longest distance race in the Irish Triathlon calendar. The international and Irish elite triathletes will do all this in about 4.5 hours, the beginners in about eight hours.

Both Anna Frankland and Trevor Woods, leaders in the national series are taking part and are expected to wrap up their national titles this weekend.

Over 40 athletes are coming in from the US and the UK to race in one of the toughest races in Europe.
