McNulty wins ALMC rally
The opposition had no answer to Tim NcNulty in yesterday's nine stage Virginia based ALMC Rally.
McNulty, from County Meath and his County Donegal co-driver, Eugene O’Donnell (Subaru WRC) led from the start.
At the end of the first stage, Willie Fannin in his Group N Subaru was McNulty’s closest challenger but his rally ended on the second stage when he clouted a chicane bale and damaged a radiator.
That promoted Pat Donegan in a hired Mitsubishi into second place.
In difficult conditions, McNulty punched in his third fastest time and at the end of the opening loop, he led the Subaru of Noel Redmond by almost 90 seconds.
It was a similar pattern on the repeat loop and on the third and final run through the stages, NcNulty ended with a winning margin of two minutes and 44 seconds with Redmond and his co-driver, Diarmuid Falvey taking second from Mitsubishi pair, Pat Donegan and Lisa Roe.
The top six also featured Maurice Gass (Subaru), Patrick Boyle (Escort) and John Spain (Toyota Celica).
