Irish hockey team sign off with defeat
Ireland's women's hockey team signed off their failed Olympic qualifying campaign in New Zealand with a 4-1 defeat against England.
Waterford’s Kristen Farrell netted a consolation goal three minutes from time.
Ireland coach Riet Kuper conceded Britain had been much stronger, but took a positive from Farrell’s goal.
“It was nice to get a girl (Farrell) on the pitch who has hardly been in the team,” said Kuper.
“She is a youngster who comes out of the second league in Ireland, but has lots of potential.”
