It was just another routine night at the oche for Phil Taylor as he clinched his place in the fourth round of the Ladbrokes.com World Championship with an emphatic victory over Irishman Colin McGarry.
The 42-year-old is on a mission to regain the title he considers his own after losing out to John Part in last year’s memorable final.
And ‘The Power’ never had to move out of third gear as he sealed a 4-0 win over qualifier McGarry, a talented sportsman from Northern Ireland who has a scratch handicap at golf.
Just 24 hours after defending champion John Part crashed out at the first hurdle, Taylor looked a picture of concentration as he took the opening set 3-0.
McGarry also failed to make an impression in the second as Taylor nailed double four, 10 and seven to move further ahead.
The 39-year-old managed to take a leg off the great man with a successful attempt at double two at the start of the third.
But the next three went with Taylor, including a 10-dart leg, as he moved within one set of victory.
McGarry won another leg in the fourth set but Taylor prevailed by the same 3-1 scoreline to move into the last 16.
