White takes revenge over Henry
Jimmy White gained a revenge victory over Glaswegian Drew Henry in York tonight to reach the last 16 of theTravis Perkins UK Championship.
White, beaten 9-4 by the Scotsman 12 months ago, turned the tables courtesy of a 9-5 success.
And 41-year-old White is relishing the prospect of a third-round meeting with world champion and world number one Mark Williams or Ireland's Fergal O’Brien.
“It doesn’t bother me that the game will be on television; I’m just here to win,” said the 1992 UK champion.
“Drew has the heart of a lion and just battles and battles. So, this is a great victory for me.
“I’ve been working hard on my game but it’s just new to me getting over the winning line.
“I feel good, there’s nothing wrong with how I’m playing and all I need is a few victories.”
White was behind only once when world number 25 Henry cleared up with 38 to lead 3-2.
White’s response was emphatic, a superb 132 to level at 3-3. He stole frame eight on the black for 5-3 and then knocked in 73 for 6-3.
That was the decisive break and though Henry managed 66 to trail 6-4, he could not get any closer.
