Tralee continue superleague unbeaten run
Tralee Tigers continued their unbeaten run in the ESB Men's Superleague, defeating Waterford Crystal at home, 86-68.
Waterford struggled in the first quarter, trailing 11-22 at the end of the first quarter, before fighting back to cut it to three points at half time, 34-37.
Rikardo Leonard returned to form for Tralee, finishing the game on 10-points and providing tenacious defence that kept Waterford trailing throughout the second half.
Despite signing their fourth American three weeks into the season, BurgerKing Limerick were unable to pull off a home victory against Neptune, going down 89-100.
Coach Tom Hehir signed Derrick White prior to the weekend deadline, but White disappointed, finishing the game on 12-points, as did his predecessor Paul Little, who only managed 6-points against Tralee on Saturday night.
Neptune are having woes of their own with Kenny Gamble out of action due to injury, but former Gleneagle Lakers player, Keith Friel more than filled his boots, top-scoring for the visitors on 27-points.
Neptune started the game well, opening up an early 10-point lead, 17-27 at the end of the first quarter.
Limerick played hard for the next three quarters, but without a second dominant American, they were never going to pull off a victory against the title-holders, allowing them their second victory of the weekend.
