Kenyan Kdereba wins marathon in Paris
Catherine Ndereba of Kenya won one of the most hotly contested World Championship marathons in Paris on Sunday.
Kenya’s former world record-holder made a decisive late break at the 34 kilometre mark to win in a championship record time of two hours 23 minutes and 55 seconds.
She raced home 19 seconds ahead of silver medalist Mizuki Noguchi of Japan with another Japanese runner Masaako Chiba third in a time of 2:25:09.
Japan easily won the team gold medal.
