Special Olympics: Irish gymnasts win 32 medals

Irish athletes have brought their Special Olympics medals tally to 100 after a haul of 32 in the rhythmic gymnastics events.

Team Ireland's gymnasts won 10 gold, 13 silver and nine bronze medals.

55-year-old Eithne Gormley from Donabate in Dublin won five of the gold medals, while 17-year-old Rhona Nesbitt from Newtownabbey won two golds, one silver and two bronze.

Lesley Farmer of Lisburn, who is only 13, also won one gold, three silver and one bronze, while 11-year-old Megan O'Halloran from Cork won one gold and two bronze.

Other winners for Ireland were Frances Dalton of Athy (one gold, one silver, two bronze), Siobhan Kelly from Dublin (four silver, one bronze) and Clare McNamara from Limerick (four silver, one bronze).
