Conway gets Irish call
Ireland’s women have named the pool of players who will contest selection for September’s European Nations Cup in Barcelona.
Senior player Jenny Burke, of Hermes, has announced her retirement from international hockey after winning 124 caps in but there is a recall for Old Alexandra’s Trish Conway, who ends an absence of five years.
As part of their warm-up programme for Barcelona the Irish will play two matches against an England development side in Leicester next month before they go to a training camp in Holland, and then a four nations event in Spain, which will be followed by the Celtic Cup in Cardiff early August.
