Milner wins Scottish Rally, MacHale fourth

The top drivers in the Scottish Rally were dogged with punctures as Jonny Milner, in his Toyota Corolla WRC took a dramatic last stage victory over the Subaru of Tapio Laukkanen.

Jari-Matti Latvala in a Ford Focus claimed third at the expense of Ireland’s, Austin MacHale (Subaru WRC).

Laukkanen lost the lead when he punctured his Subaru and Milner inherited the lead role. However, he also collected a puncture and Laukkanen reclaimed the lead prior to the last stage.

Laukkanen’s car punctured a mile into the stage and Milner took advantage to take a dramatic win ahead of the unlucky Laukkanen.

Jari-Matti Latvala (Ford Focus) was another to puncture, he also survived a final stage excursion to

claim third.

Austin MacHale’s Subaru had transmission trouble and he also had to contend with dust entering the cockpit of his car. He was third towards the finish until his Subaru stuck in third gear for several miles.

He finished fourth in the Super 1600 class, Gwyndaf Evans finished ahead of Ireland’s Kris Meeke, who lost time with a puncture in his Opel Corsa. He also finished eighth overall.

In the Peugeot 206 Super Cup, Shaun Gallagher was the top Irish driver, he took third. Just like yesterday he had a puncture of the day’s second stage.
