After six stages of the Galway International Rally, the opening round of the Pirelli Irish Tarmac

Finland’s, Tapio Laukkanen was never headed throughout today’s six stages of the second and final day of the Trackrod Rally in Yorkshire.

At the end of the first leg of the Trackrod Rally, Finland's Tapio Laukkanen, on board his Subaru WRC has a slim 5.9 second lead over fellow countryman and teenage sensation, Jari-Matti Latvala (Ford Focus WRC).

Finnish driver, Tapio Laukkanen and Jari-Matti Latvala occupy the top two places in the Trackrod Rally in the Yorkshire forests as Ireland’s, Austin MacHale and co-driver, Brain Murphy maintain fourth place.

Heavy rain marred the first three stages of the Ulster Rally as reigning Irish champion Andrew Nesbitt set the pace.

The top drivers in the Scottish Rally were dogged with punctures as Jonny Milner, in his Toyota Corolla WRC took a dramatic last stage victory over the Subaru of Tapio Laukkanen.

British champion Jonny Milner leads the Scottish Rally after two of today’s five stages as previous leader Tapio Laukkanen suffered a puncture.

Mark Higgins - co-driven by Belfast´s Michael Gibson (Ford Focus WRC) - have won the Newcastle based Pirelli International Rally, the opening round of the Pirelli sponsored British Rally Championship.

In the Pirelli International Rally in Gateshead near Newcastle, and with six stages completed, Finland´sTapio Laukkanen - in a Group N Subaru Impreza - holds a 27 second advantage over the Ford Focus of British driver, Mark Higgins and his Northern Ireland co-driver, Michael Gibson.
