Jenkins beats Scholten at CityWest
Portsmouth's Andy Jenkins turned on the style to crush Dutchman Roland Scholten four sets to nil and move into the semi-final of the Paddy Power World Grand Prix.
Jenkins has struggled in televised events over the last ten years - a second round appearance at the World Matchplay his best result until today.
It was no surprise then that he was the underdog against the experienced Scholten, who was runner-up in this event last year, but started like a house on fire with some fine double shooting.
The first four legs of the opening set went with the throw and locked at two legs apiece the final leg was to prove a thriller.
Scholten appeared to be in the driving seat but Jenkins seized the moment and a 130 out-shot - 20, treble 20, bull sealed the first set and pumped up the Dublin crowd.
Jenkins followed that up by taking the first leg of second set with 9, double 8 as Scholten struggled to find his best form.
The Dutchman levelled matters at 2-2 but his opponent nailed 'tops' to take the second set and give his opponent a mountain to climb.
It was more of the same in the third set with Scholten on the ropes and unable to counter Jenkins' forceful darts.
A D2 finish saw Jenkins go 3-0 up and the match was effectively over.
'Rocky' finished the match on D8 to ensure a 4-0 whitewash and moved into the last four - and on this form will give anyone a fight for their money.
