Cork driver, Michael Keohane finished fifth in today’s penultimate round of the British Formula 3

Championship at Donington Park.

Third place for Briton, Robbie Kerr was enough to clinch the championship.

Keohane began from the fourth row of the grid and picked up two places on the first lap of the 16-lap race at the Derbyshire circuit.

Kerr, who started from pole, was outwitted by Heikki Kovalainen and Bruce Jouanny but opted to hold position rather than risk his championship ambitions.

Keohane had team mate and F1 test driver, James Courtney in his sights, however, handling problems thwarted his efforts.

In the Scholarship Class won by Robert Dahlgren, Gavin Smith and his Meritus racing team mate, Stephen Colbert were fourth and fifth respectively. Adam Carroll was sixth in the same category.

The series concludes tomorrow with Carroll on the fifth row, Keohane on row eight and Colbert on row ten and Smith on row twelve of the 30-car grid.

After 14 stages of the San Remo Rally, Giles Panizzi has a 22.1 second advantage over his Peugeot team mate, Marcus Gronholm. Peter Solberg (Subaru) has displaced the Peugeot of Richard Burns for third.

Markko Martin is the top Ford driver, he’s fifth. Colin McRae is eighth.

Niall McShea is tenth in the Super 1600 category.
