Donnelly leads Cork Forest Rally
In the Windscreen Centre sponsored Cork Forest Rally, a counting round of the KBB Doors National Forest Championship, Eugene Donnelly and co-driver, Paul Nagle arrived at the service halt with a 19 second advantage over the Escort WRC of Dermot Kelly/John Brennan.
Kelly, set the quickest time on the second stage but spun on the next stage and lost time to his rival.
Meanwhile, Donnelly (Toyota Celica), set the opening pace to lead by ten seconds after the first stage.
In third place, some 20 seconds behind Kelly, is the Escort WRC of Dominic McNeill, he lost time with
overheating problems.
Former champion, Kevin O’Kane (Subaru) and John Donnelly (Escort WRC are next on the leaderboard.
New Yorker, John Drislane (Subaru) holds sixth place.
Noel Driver (Mitsubishi), Paul Staunton (Escort) and Brian McCloskey (Escort WRC) are next.
In the German BMW Championship at the A1 Ring, a 30 second penalty demoted Dubliner, Michael Devaney from first to 13th.
The penalty was imposed due to a safety car incident.
