Arrows wait to hear fate

Arrows should learn their future in Formula One by the end of the week after responding to a deadline for action set by the sport’s governing body.

The FIA had asked Arrows to contact them by 6pm today after the team did not take part in Sunday’s Belgian GP at Spa-Francorchamps.

That was the second consecutive GP Arrows had failed to take part in as owner Tom Walkinshaw continued his bid to sell the cash-strapped team.

Former BAR supremo Craig Pollock has pulled out of talks with Walkinshaw, who has since turned to American industrialist Cal Smith.

But as the talks continue Arrows face the prospect of being thrown out of the championship, particularly if the Oxfordshire-based team’s future is not settled by the next race at Monza in Italy in 12 days.

An arrows spokeswoman said tonight: “We have responded to the FIA and we are now waiting to see what happens.”
