Murphy best of Irish at Snetterton
Dubliner Eoin Murray was the only Irish driver to occupy a podium finish in the Formula Renault races at Snetterton.
Murray finished third in the Renaultsport UK Clio Cup behind race winner, Andrew Kirkcaldy and
Jason Templeman.
Meanwhile, the second race in the Formula Renault UK Championship, Gary Turkington, was the top Irish finisher for the second time today.
He was placed fifth behind race winner, Jamie Green with Philip Kershaw in fourteenth place, two places ahead of Matt Griffin.
James Murphy completed a dismal weekend when he failed to get further than the first lap.
In the first Motorcycle Road races in the province of Munster in over a decade, Antrim’s, Victor Gilmore was the first rider to break the 100mph barrier at the Athea Road Races.
Riding a Suzuki, he won the Open Race from the Suzuki of Liam Quinn with John Bull (Yamaha) taking third place.
Adrian Elwood won both Classic races and there were also race wins for Donnacha Daly (Support Race 1), Darren Burns (250cc Junior), Martin Finnegan (600cc), Mark Curtin (125cc) and John Walsh (Support Race 2).
