Colin McRae, the most successful driver in the history of the World Rally Championship leads the Punchestown

World Rally experience after three of the day’s six stages.

The Scot, who won the Safari Rally last week, was fastest over each of the three timed runs.

Andrew Nesbitt (Subaru WRC), also a winner last week in the Jim Clark Rally, is second - 6.4 seconds behind but just a second ahead of his great rival, Austin McHale (Toyota Corolla).

Maurice Gass(Subaru) is almost ten seconds behind McHale in a top five completed by Derek McGarrity, also in a Subaru WRC.

Michael Barrable occupies sixth place followed by David Greer, Robert Woodside, Peadar Hurson and Eugene Donnelly.

Shinya Hosokawa won the first of today’s double-header British Formula 3 Championship races at the Rockingham Speedway.

Heikki Kovalainen was second with Derek Hayes the top Irish driver in third place.

Michael Keohane retired on the second lap after an altercation with Richard Antinucci.
