Montoya launches driver safety programme

BMW Williams driver Juan Pablo Montoya was in Dublin today to launch a new driving skills programme.

The Allianz Ireland Risk & Safety Services initiative provides advanced and defensive driver training to the drivers of commercial vehicles.

Brendan Murphy, Chief Executive, Allianz Ireland said that driver error accounts for more than 80% of all accidents on Irish roads each year.

Montoya said: "It's vital for every person driving on the roads to undergo a detailed and advanced driver training programme.

"As a career driver myself, I can identify with anyone who drives for a living and know the pressures and stress long periods behind the wheel can impose. I therefore urge all drivers and in particular commercial drivers to complete an advanced driving programme to enhance their driving skills."
