Barrichello hails 'fantastic' feeling

Rubens Barrichello described winning the European Grand Prix for Ferrari as "fantastic".

The Brazilian was relieved that technical director Ross Brawn did not call for a switch between him and teammate Michael Schumacher who finished second.

It ended a 23-month wait for Barrichello since his first Grand Prix win.

"Austria is a thing of the past for me and I don't want to talk about it," said Barrichello.

"I won this race fair and square and what happened here is not about wiping out what happened in Austria. All in all I agree with what happened in Austria.

"But what's done is done. This is just a fantastic day for me and a fantastic feeling especially to have my wife (Silvana) and son (Eduardo) here with me."

Michael Schumacher pushed too hard in attempting to rein in Barrichello before their first pit-stops and half-spun at a left-hand corner into the tarmac run-off area, losing a vital 10 seconds.

"I did fight hard for the win - too hard and that's why I went off," admitted Schumacher. "I was pushing but got too close to Rubens.

"After that there was no chance to overtake here and after the second pit-stop the team just told us to bring the cars home. There was no point risking anything by racing each other.

"That was the order for both of us so we both slowed. There was never any question of me overtaking Rubens, that was never the idea. Rubens did a great race and deserved this victory."
