Snooker: Parrott has his feathers ruffled

Parrott, world champion in 1991, had his chances against Williams - winner two years ago - but failed to take them and goes into tomorrow afternoon's final session trailing 6-3.

The 37-year-old Liverpudlian - an ever-present at the Crucible since 1984 - had to pre-qualify for this year's tournament and was hoping for a kinder first-round draw. He was level at 2-2 before Williams won four of the next five frames to take command.
