Boxing: McCullough returns after two-year absence

Fan favorite Wayne McCullough returned from a two-year absence from the sport to score a second round knockout over journeyman Alvin Brown.

Brown went down twice in the second, from a leaping left hook and a body shot, and never made the count the second time.

The Belfast ''Pocket Rocket'', who went into the fight two pounds lighter than his Kansas-based opponent, had been out of action for more than two years following health concerns.

But Saturday's impressive victory in Las Vegas has put his career back on track, and the former WBC bantamweight champion will now target another crack at a world title.

McCullough was told he would never fight again after a brain scan back in October 2000 discovered an irregularity.

But he was eventually given the green light to resume his career after receiving clearance from

neurosurgeons.
