Rugby: Wood to stay at Harlequins until 2003
Keith Wood has signed a new, one-year deal with Harlequins that will keep him at the club until June 2003.
Ireland's most capped hooker joined the club in summer 1996 and made his club debut in the 75-19 victory over Gloucester.
He has since gone on to captain the club, making his 100th appearance for the club in their Heineken Cup game against Castres earlier this year.
Harlequin’s chief executive, Mark Evans said, "There is no doubt that Keith is a world class player, so this is fantastic news for the club.
He has been extremely loyal to ‘Quins since he joined us”. Mr. Evans went on to praise Woods’ leadership qualities.
Wood was recently voted rugby's World Player of the Year.
