Snooker: Doherty through to last eight

Dubliner Ken Doherty is through to the last-eight of the £250,000 European Open in Malta following a 5-3 win over Alan McManus but Ireland’s other hopeful, Michael Judge, lost 5-1 to Stephen Lee.

Jimmy White has also reached the quarter-finals after beating John Higgins 5-1 in the second round last night.
