Premiership: Store wants 'butter-fingers Barthez for ad campaign
Supermarket Tesco said today they would approach Manchester United goalkeeper Fabien Barthez to advertise its own label butter.
The chain decided the Frenchman was perfect for the job after his two critical mistakes in United’s 3-1 defeat by Arsenal yesterday.
Tesco said they now plan to approach Barthez over the next few weeks with a view to him fronting an advertising campaign for its brands.
Simon Soffe, dairy produce spokesman for Tesco said: ‘‘After Sunday’s performance no-one can doubt that Fabien is the ultimate butter fingers.
‘‘Barthez’s goalkeeping errors may have put him on a slippery slope with his boss Alex Ferguson but he may unwittingly have handed himself an additional contract.’’
