Racing: Robbo set to run for Reveley
Saltburn trainer Mary Reveley confirmed today that she will have at least one runner in the Thomas Pink Gold Cup at Cheltenham on Saturday.
Robbo and A Piece Of Cake were her two possibles at the confirmation stage when 24 horses stood their ground for the race.
Reveley said: ‘‘I think we will run Robbo definitely but I am still waiting for the owners coming back to me on A Piece Of Cake.
‘‘Both are fine but it would need to be a bit softer for Robbo. Both would like it a bit softer really.’’
Seven-year-old Robbo, who has won five chases and four hurdle races, will be making his seasonal reappearance if he lines up at Cheltenham.
His most recent outing was when finishing third to Eau De Cologne on soft ground at Ascot in March.
He won at Kelso on soft ground in November last year and at Carlisle and Newcastle on heavy going in March and February that year.
Eight-year-old grey A Piece Of Cake, who has won three chases and one hurdle race, made his seasonal bow when sixth behind Banker Count at Wetherby earlier this month.
Reveley was satisfied with that effort and believes it may have brought him on.
‘‘He ran all right,’’ she said.
Robbo is quoted as short as 12-1 with Ladbrokes and A Piece of Cake is 16-1 with the same firm but as high as 33-1 with Coral.
