Motorsport: Curran leads in Carrick, McNulty heads Achill
Entering the third and final stage of the Carrick-on-Suir Single Stage Rally, local hero, Ritchie Curran (Escort WRC) has a 41 second lead over the Metro 6R4 of Willie Dwyer.
Curran was fastest on the opening stage as top seed, Ray Breen spun his Subaru and finished the stage in seventh place.
O'Dwyer, posted a good time on the second run to remain in second spot ahead of the Mk. 2 Escort of Jimmy Lambert.
Breen has fought his way back to fourth.
At the Carrick-on-Suir service halt, he made some changes to the centre differential.
Colm Doyle (Subaru) leads the showroom category - 17 seconds ahead of the Mitsubishi of Roy White, who was fastest through the second run.
In the Ford of Ireland Ka Challenge - John Carroll leads the way.
Meanwhile, in the Achill Island Rally, the Subaru of Tim McNulty has set the pace - he leads from the Escort Cosworth of David Armstrong with Tommy Graham's Escort WRC in third place.
Jesus Puras has won the Tour of Corsica from the Peugeots of Gilles Panizzi and Didier Auriol.
Team tactics allowed Richard Burns (Subaru) come through to finish fourth and claim valuable championship points.
Niall McShea/Michael Orr (Citroen) were fourth in the Super 1600 category, they were 16th. in general classification.
