Motorsport: Jennings leads Peugeot 106 category but Galligan retires
Fermanagh's, Gary Jennings and his Cork co-driver, James O 'Brien are the early leaders of the Peugeot Super 106 category in the Rally of Kent.
Unfortunately, two other Irish drivers have retired. The first retirement was that of Billy Coleman Award winner, Rory Galligan. The Meath driver's demise came very early in the opening stage when he damaged a wheel and retired instantly.
Later, after forcing his way from sixth place into joint second, Chris Meeke/Gordon Noble also retired from the 16-stage rally.
Meanwhile, in the Super 1600 series, Justin Dale (Peugeot) has the early advantage. David Higgins partnered by Belfast's Michael Gibson (VW) have also bowed out. Francois Duva (Ford) is Dale's closest rival.
